The Munich Agreement signed on 29 September 1938
Germany started becoming aggressive in early 1938, annexing Austria and pushing into Czechoslovakia with Italian help, alarming Britain and France. The latter two declared war on 3 September1939 - two days after Poland was invaded. France was overcome in May 1940 leaving Britain cornered.
The site where Hitler promised not to expand Germany's territory was the Munich Agreement, signed in September 1938. This agreement involved Germany, the United Kingdom, France, and Italy, and allowed Nazi Germany to annex the Sudetenland region of Czechoslovakia in exchange for a pledge of no further territorial expansion. However, this promise was soon broken as Hitler continued his aggressive expansion across Europe.
