Nimitz idea was "Kill Japs, Kill More Japs." Those were his words not mine. That is exactly how he felt about the war. He was a victor over the Japanese military and he had more victorious attacks, missions and operations than any other person in the Pacific War of World War 2. I must admit I am proud of him and we even have a boulevard named after him in my Navy hometown of San Diego, California.

The most important war led by Chester Nimitz was the Pacific Theater of World War II, particularly during the Battle of Midway in June 1942. As Commander in Chief of the U.S. Pacific Fleet, Nimitz played a crucial role in planning and executing strategies that turned the tide against Japanese forces. The victory at Midway significantly weakened the Japanese Navy and marked a pivotal shift in the war, allowing Allied forces to begin a series of offensive operations in the Pacific. Nimitz's leadership and tactical acumen were instrumental in achieving this critical victory.
The combined Allied Joint Chiefs split the Pacific Theater into two major operational areas: the Southwest Pacific Area, and the Pacific Ocean Area, each of which had a Supreme commander, which reported to the Combined Joint Chiefs.General Douglas MacArthur was the supreme commander for the SWPA. Most major land invasions and defenses fell under his command, however.Admiral Chester W Nimitz was supreme commander for the POA. All major naval operations in both theaters fell under his command, however.Frankly, this was a political compromise, and was sub-optimal as the two commands ofen competed for resources and priorities.Adm.
