The "Bonnie Blue" flag as we know it was first used on September 11, 1810 signifying the Republic of West Florida when the Spanish governor of that region east of the Mississippi River was captured in the fort at Baton Rouge. Since then it has been used in various forms during the Texas Revolution to their statehood (1836-1846). During the early years of the Civil War and through the Confederacy the Bonnie Blue flag was the popular "unofficial" flag of the south. Today the Bonnie Blue Flag is part of the state flags of North Carolina, Nevada, and Texas.

If it is not raining at sunrise, raise the flag; and if it starts to rain during the day, no matter the flag still stays up and you take it down at normal sunset.
