What is appesment?

Appeasement is when one person makes an effort to please someone who is being demanding and threatening. Sally is furious and she wants the ice cream Jonny has. She is throwing a hissy fit over it. Her mother serves her a bowl of ice cream but Sally is still gloomy because she wanted Jonny's bowl of ice cream, not just some ice cream. This happened in World War 2. Hitler wanted all of Europe and the Versailles Treaty annulled. What did he get? He got a small piece of Europe he had been wanting for a long time but that was not good enough for him. So what did he do? He invaded most of Europe. What did Sally do? She threw her ice cream at Jonny. Appeasement does not work because it is a lose lose situation.

Did they eat ice cream in world war 1?

Well that depends where exactly. If you were a soldier fighting in a trench on the front lines than no. If you were of royalty or a high positions n your country then maybe. It may be served to someone as a treat, possibly when it is very hot or dry out. It all depends who you were, what you were doing, and where you lived.
