Turkey has always been an independent country like China. They are the successor of Ottoman Empire. However from 1870 to 1920 some part of Anatolia was invaded by English, French and Russian. In 1920 they were completely sent away from Anatolia by Turkish armed forces. From 1923 onwards they were no longer known as Ottoman but Turkish Republic instead.
