During the Battle of Gettysburg, Confederate soldiers primarily slept in makeshift camps, often in tents or under the open sky. Many sought shelter in nearby buildings, barns, and homes in the surrounding area. The terrain and ongoing combat made it difficult to establish secure sleeping arrangements, leading to a challenging and uncomfortable experience for the troops.
