Sorry that was suppose to say a mint mark of an "A" on the PFENNIG.
1917 makes it a Standing Liberty quarter, so the mint mark is just above and to the left of the date (the mint mark on quarters wouldn't return to the obverse again until 1968). No mark indicates Philadelphia, S is San Francisco, and D is Denver.
Some 1917 and all Walking Liberty halves dated 1918 and later have the mint mark at the 8:00 position on the back. None = Philadelphia S = San Francisco D = Denver All 1916 and some 1917 halves have the mint mark position below the words In God We Trust on the front.

War Nickel, or silver nickels started in 1942 through 1945. 1942 produced both nickels out of nickel and nickels from silver. The non silver ones do not have the large mint mark while the silver ones have the large mint mark.

With an A mint mark, about 50¢ in average condition. With any other mint mark, about 75¢
That is the mintmark of the Munich mint on this German 50 pfennig.

it could range from $ 20 to 100 us , depending on the mint mark and quality .
It's German, clearly, but you need to provide its denomination. With an A mint mark, about $12 in worn condition, up to $35 with only moderate wear. Other mint marks are in the $15-$40 range.

Yes, it was common on most 20th century coins to omit the P mint mark that would have indicated the Philadelphia mint. Also, coins struck in 1915 and 1916, and some in 1917, will have the mint mark on the front (obverse), while the remaining years have the mint mark on the reverse.
