In the small town of Murfreesboro, about 30 miles South of Nashville.

The Battle was also known as Stones River fought on a frozen field on Dec.31st 1862 - Jan. 1st 1863.

As the Confederates under Bragg retreated and left the field to the Union troops under Rosecrans, it is counted as a Union victory. But it did not change anything, and it would be months before Rosecrans was able to make a move.
