His invasion of Russia in 1812. He went into Russia expecting to win quickly, but then when he didn't he ended up being stuck in the country, completely unprepared for winter. Also, as the Russian army retreated they burned everything so that Napoleon's army was not able to gain anything useful. As he tried to retreat out of Russia his army was frozen, starved, or picked off by Russian guerrillas. His losses were tremendous.
