Most medics were not armed, or they carried the M1911 .45 cal pistol. In later conflicts, a wider range of arms were available to medics. While medics are 'non combatants,' they are armed to protect their patients.
American medics weren't supposed to have any weapons. Their job was to take care of their own wounded buddies, not to try to harm the enemy. Under international law field medics were not supposed to be harmed, but the Japanese always and the Germans frequently ignored this rule of war. In return for not being a target, also under international law the medics were supposed to be unarmed.
Many conscientious objectors became medics. Desmond Doss was a conscientious objector/medic who earned a Medal of Honor in the Philippines rescuing many wounded men under fire, probably the only Medal of Honor given during the war for such actions, as opposed to something that harmed the enemy.
Most likely it was the M-1 Rifle.

The same as their standard infantry counterparts. They just had medic emblems on their arms or helmets. They also did NOT carry a gun.
The most widiy used weapon in the Veitnam war was the American M-16 rifle.
There can be no doubt that the most deadliest weapon of world war 2 was the nuclear bombs that dropped on Hiroshima.
