The Rogers Pass through British Columbia's Selkirk Mountains has been known to the people of the First Nations for thousands of years.

The first European to discover the pass, and the person after whom it is named, was a Canadian Pacific Railway surveyor, Major Albert Bowman Rogers.

He discovered it on May 29, 1881.

NOTE: There is also a "Rogers Pass" in the US which crosses the Continental Divide southeast of Great Falls, Montana
