Daniel Hess was the very first inventor of the Vacuum Cleaner. Others may have other answers, but that is the real answer. He called it the Carpet Sweeper, which used to be a huge machine that had a bellows (thing that sucks) on top of it, and two chambers where air would go through to be purified.
