The containment policy after World War II was primarily developed by U.S. diplomat George F. Kennan. In his famous "Long Telegram" in 1946 and subsequent article in the "Foreign Affairs" journal, Kennan argued for a strategy to prevent the spread of Soviet influence and communism. This approach became a cornerstone of U.S. foreign policy during the Cold War, guiding actions in various global conflicts and alliances.
WWI caused WWII because Berlin, Rome and Tokyo created an alliance that was trans-European. Therefore, this set up everyone on a path of confrontation. The better path would have been to understanding and compromise.
Following WWII, the United States came to the realization that a policy of isolationism and general neutrality was insufficient for world affairs. The United States, following the war, adopted the Truman Doctrine policy of containment. Thus, the U.S. sought to contain communism and prevent it from spreading. This required the U.S. to become greatly involved in world affairs, propping up questionable or nefarious regimes simply to prevent them from falling to Soviet communism. These interventionist policies led to U.S. involvement in the Korean War, the Vietnam War and the Gulf War as well as numerous small scale conflicts such as incursions into various Central American countries and the bombing of Libya, invasion of Grenada and others.
We gave food and supplies to West (west, or east, i think its west) Berlin. Since Germany banned us from going in and driving supplies to them, we decided to get creative and start airlifting the supplies to them. This was of course, to keep W. Berlin from falling to Communism, which the other half of Germany was. Oh yeah, and the Berlin wall was put up, so people could not go to the W. Berlin area (coming from E. Berlin), however you could go to E. Berlin (coming from W. Berlin).
United States foreign policy after World War II focused primarily on preventing the spread of Stalinism and Soviet communism throughout Europe and the rest of the world. Truman's anticommunist attitudes led to increasing actions aimed at alienating Stalin and the Soviet Union after V-J Day. This was illustrated by a number of economic and military conflicts between East and West Germany directly after the war (look up the Berlin Airlift), and later in conflicts such as the Korean War. Central to early Cold War policy was the concept of "containment," a number of foreign-policy strategic initiatives that sought to contain communism within the parts of the world in which it was already present.

Most of the time a decreasing term policy is averaged out so that the premium stays the same while the coverage decreases along with a mortgage balance or whatever it was originally set up to do. Term insurance prices increase as an insured ages and this type of policy is set up to decrease so that the premium does not go up as you age.

The term containment has been and can be used for anything; the containment of a disease; the containment of water; containing a fire. Or containing a criminal in a building until he is either overtaken or surrenders to law enforcement. Containment was used in Europe, Asia, and Latin America to contain problems encountered by those regions. During the cold war the "term" CONTAINMENT was used to control communism. That was a name used to prevent the spread of communism. Military force was used to prevent that spread. Either by just showing up and letting them see the military force; as happened during the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962. Or by actually USING the military force by killing them in war; as happened in the Korean War and Vietnam War.
Generally no, but it depends on how your policy is set up and how many claims you file a year.
