Paul Revere and William Dawes were the two individuals that warned the American Militia that the British were coming. This was important to the Militia because this was the first military battle between the Americans and the British in the Revolutionary War.

Lexington and Concord, Massachusetts. The British had got wind of a store of cannon and gunpowder the colonists had amassed at Concord and set our from Boston to seize it. Paul Revere and others warned the Minute Companies of the militia that the British were on the way. The British encountered the Minute Company of the Lexington militia drawn up on the town green when they got that far. Shots were exchanged and the British pushed on to Concord.

Paul revere affected the many columnist who lived because as he rode his horse he warned them that the British soldiers were marching so they could prepare the militia and fight.

Because Concord was the city where the Americans were supposadly hiding weapons (which they were), so the British marched from Boston to Lexington, to Concord... This is when Paul Revere warns people "The British are Coming" Unfortunately, he never made it to warn about the British, but Dr. Prescott did... He warned the people of Concord about the oncoming attack, and the militia came to ready...... This was one of the FIRST battles the Americans won in the Revolutionary war.... -Go History =)
