Trials of war criminals after World War 2?

During the Nuremberg Trials, 11 of the highest Nazi officials were charged with "crimes against humanity" - literally a charge made up by other governments because no available law could describe the atrocities they had committed. 7 were convicted and sentenced to death. The night before his execution, Hermann Goring committed suicide. 3 of the 6 were killed by firing squad, and the other 3 were hung. After they were killed and pronounced dead, they were loaded on to boxcars and taken to Dachau, the very first German concentration camp. Their bodies were forced into the hideous crematoriums they had ordered so many innocents into, and they were burnt to ash. Their ashes were thrown in a nearby river so as to prevent anyone from ever making a memorial to these monsters.

Were the perpetrators of the Holocaust punished?

The Nazis were tried in a international court after World War two. Some were sentenced to prisons, some escaped, some became scientists in other countries, some were hung, and some Nazis escaped trial. You will be able to read about the Nuremberg Trials.___________I take it that by Nazis you mean Nazi war criminals, not ordinary Party members. The vast majority of Nazi war criminals were never tried or punished and 'lived happily ever after'.

How many Nuremberg trials were held?

There was only one 'TRUE' Nuremberg Trial, it was operating from November 1945 to October 1946. The trial was of 22 German principals which was made up of a mixture Generals, and Politicians, who where not fast enough to escape on the Odessa SS escape line, and so were in Allied hands. I said above, only one 'TRUE' Trial, because there were a number of other trials held during that time, and afterwards, but these were for, so called, minor persons, both male and female, who were captured, and placed on trial for War Crimes against humanity, and though one or two were hung, most were given sentences ranging from one to five years, and most were let out after a short time.
