Other Commonwealth forces (New Zealanders, Indians, South Africans) fought on the British side aong with Free French and Greeks. The First Battle of El Alamein was won by Sir Claude Auchinlech. The Second battle of El Alamein was won by Viscount Bernard Montgomery.
