Why did the US trade with Britain and not Germany in the World War 1?

Before entering World War I, the United States provided aid to Great Britain (or, England) mainly because of the shared heritage, cultural and political alike, between the two countries. The United States later entered the war (in 1917) on the side of Great Britain as a result of having suffered from isolated attacks by German submarines, along with the undisguised threat of more systematic attacks from German leadership.

There are several reasons but first thing the U.S. didn't aid only England it supported all of the Allies. ....Anyway

Most of the leaders and the people looked at Great Britain as our mother country and some still do. Thomas Jefferson said, "that it should never be in our interest to see the destruction of England". If you think like this then, basically the U.S. had a lot more to lose if England would lost the war, since England is the only thing holding Europe together.

However you want to see the Lusitania, German had submarnies and they were using it on any ship that they thought was carrying war supplies and sometimes without warning. One of the things that the U.S. treasures is the freedom of the seas.
