To the best of my knowing, women took all the jobs men had. They had those jobs on top of taking care of their families. They worked as farmers and factory workers to help the war effort.

Millions of men were away in military service. Women replaced them in so many industries vital to the production of war materiel needed to defeat the Nazis and the Japanese.

Without so many women contributing to the war effort at home, the Allies might very well have been defeated.
