The media presented a war that could not be understood without fighting it. By trying to share what they did see, they themselves were shocked nevermind the American public. War is harsh, bloody and often times it is impossible to keep civilians from being injured or killed. ALSO - many of the civilians were willing to carry bombs into buildings, open markets, etc where American and Allied soldiers were. When soldiers have to defend themselvs against civilians, and they cannot have their side of the story told properly - it creates a very negative situation.
Nobody (or very few men) wanted to be drafted into military service. 40,000 men a month in 1968!

As necessary as the cold war was....so yes
Overall, the number of casualties inflicted upon the Americans during the Vietnam War was 58,156. As for Vietnamese casualties, there were over 5 million. However, nobody counted exactly so we are unsure of the exact answer.
The USA went to war with Vietnam because it was a communist country. Also they were allies with the USSR. We were enemies with the USSR so we wanted the USSR to have at least 1 less freind.

To fight socialism but the Vietnamese knew guerilla warfare and the jungle unlike the Americans. With no clear goal in sight many people assoicate the war as a failure. The war was so unpopular that Lyndon B Johnson did not run for a second term.
Americans were more or less outraged about the Vietnam War due to the fact that it was the first televised war, allowing Americans to view what was going on at the front lines. American's were then able to view civilian's dieing. This was the Enemy's strategy, to get American's against the war so that they did not support it.
The Americans had a thing called the domino theory, that was if Vietnam became a communist country that all surrounding countries would as well. The Americans were really scared of Communism so they went to Vietnam to stop it.
yes, because they all wanted to get over it so bad and they were all just tired of the same things especially the Americans.
Around 600,000 Vietnamese died in the Vietnam War. More Vietnamese died than Americans. That amazes me.
After the war, there was a reunification of Vietnam. So the answer is "One country".
