Battle of Yarmuk had destroyed major power of Eastern Roman Empire's army in Syria. They couldn't rely on their Christian Arab anymore. Islamic Caliphate could easily capture Syria after this battle.

The \muslims pursued the retreating Byzantines Immediately and found them near Damascus. there was another battle and Damascus was taken. The Byzantine emperor did not have the resources to organise a fight back and withdrew to the cathedral of Antioch. After holding a council he sailed back to Constantinople at night.

The first probes into Byzantine (eastern Roman) territory began immediately after the conclusion of the last war between the Byzantine and Sassanid Persian Empires. One of the earliest battles of note was the battle of Mut'a in 629 and the most significant afterwards was the battle of Yarmuck, between 635-636 AD when Byzantine forces were badly defeated.
The significant battle centered around Fort Ticonderoga where American troops used a scorched-earth policy was the Battle of Bunker Hill. It was a significant battle because the colonists were able to secure a significant number of weapons.
