Acting corporal Alvin C. York, better remembered as Sergeant York. Earned the Medal of Honor October 8, 1918 as a member of the 328th Infantry, 82nd Division. Failed when drafted to be recognized as a conscientious objector. Killed twenty-four Germans and captured another 128. From Pall Mall, Tennessee.
