all of the lift- and propulsive thrust comes from the rotors. therefore they cannot in any sense fly as fast as jets. I do not think a true helicopter, as opposed to a stub-winged thing like a Rotordyne could go much above 200 MPH. Probably some jet-boosted experimental models have gone faster, but these are not standard issue models.
