It doesn't stand for anything, it is just the number assigned since the U.S. reset the numbering system for aircraft (which had been in use since before the Korean War) in 1962 by Defense Secretary Robert McNamara. Numbering for all military aircraft restarted at -1 after that (however the lowest number used for a fighter was the F-4, but the next bomber was the B-1).
Not every aircraft assigned a number went into production and use (e,g, the prototype Airforce F-17 program was terminated when the F-16 was approved and the fighter was redesigned to make the Navy/Marines F-18). Also some numbers were skipped without ever having an airplane assigned that number (e.g. F-1, F-2, F-3, F-19) and the F-117 was inexplicably assigned an arbitrary out of sequence number that appears to be from the old numbering system.
I know it is the F22 raptor
Yes, and the f-22 is a fighter jet
The F-22 will fly in excess of 1,500 mph.
The F22 Raptor is a single seat, twin engine fifth generation supermaneuverable fighter aircraft that uses stealth technology. The average price of the F22 Raptor is around 150 million dollars.
The latest jet fighter released is the F22 Raptor for the US military. The fighter was actually designed in the early 90's.Fighters being designed presently, will not be made public for 15-20 years. It is 2010, and from what I hear the F22 Raptor is going to be replace within the year.
yes and no, it has been deployed but it has never seen combat
F22 Raptor stealth, flexibility, and strikepower Eurofighter is amazing too -
At the moment probably the F22 or the Su T-50 Then the F35-II
The main feature of the F-22 would be it's stealth capability.
The F22 has not been made available for export to any country.
Firstly "bestest" is not a word The BEST fighter jet in the world is the F22 Raptor It has the best manouvering system in the world and it has the best weaponry in the world.
I think the most popular fighter jet is F22 Raptor ( United States). If we are thinking of the most popular fighter jet of all time, I would pick the F-4 Phantom.
