The term B6 and B7 are original from the European standard EN 1063 CEN-B6 and Cen B7. This level of protection is actually designated for Glass in building or security Glazing. the only person responsible to understand and enforce the armor rating is the customer that is purchasing the vehicle. In the United states their is no governing body that sets or enforces the regulations.

another common mistake is to compare the European EN 1063 to the USA NIJ 0101.06 Ballistic resistance of body armor. for example most companies will compare B7 to NIJ V. totally wrong.

1- NIJ V refers to 1 shot of .30-06 caliber armor piercing on a 10 inch by 10 inch test sample at a bullet velocity of 2750 to 2850 feet's per second on a bullet resistant vest.

2- the EN 1063 CEN B7 refers to 3 shots of 7.62mm x 51mm armor piercing bullet, the velocity of this bullet is 2690 (+/- 32.80) feet's per second and the shot pattern is, a triangle shape 1 shot every 120 mm apart and this is a test for Glass.

The only opaque armor regulation is NATO STANAG 4569 and this is what the customer should ask for.
