Thermocol
It may look like polystyrene "melts" when petrol (gasoline) is poured on it. However, the petrol is actually dissolving the polystyrene. In chemistry, there is a common saying that "like dissolves like". Polystyrene is an alkene and petrol has several alkenes in it {benzene (up to 5% by volume), toluene (up to 35% by volume), naphthalene (up to 1% by volume), and trimethylbenzene (up to 7% by volume)} which aid in the dissolving of the polystyrene. Now the characteristics of both the ingredientsare lost and a new product is formed. This product shows the character of neither a solid nor a liquid. It is a translucent material which is brownish or yellowish white in color and with viscosity more than that of a liquid and less than that of a solid. While studying the properties of the material formed, it is found that it looks like glue and can be used as a strong adhesive.

To make a school building using thermocol, start by sketching a design for the building to determine its dimensions and features. Cut thermocol sheets into the desired shapes for walls, roofs, and floors using a craft knife. Assemble the pieces by gluing them together with white glue or a hot glue gun, ensuring stability. Finally, decorate the model with paint, markers, or additional materials to represent windows, doors, and landscaping.

To make a thermocol guitar, start by cutting two large pieces of thermocol into the shape of the guitar body and a smaller piece for the neck. Use a craft knife to carve out a sound hole in the body. Attach the neck to the body using glue, and then create strings using elastic bands or thin wire stretched across the body. Finally, decorate your guitar with paint or markers for a personalized touch.
