Assuming you have an up and over door then you wwill need to remove the entire door frame, runners and machanical tracks. The door openeing will have to be secure i.e. not breaking down etc. If it is this has to be rebuilt first.

You will need to ensure the floor area of the garage adjacent to the door opening is sound and level. This is vital for the new doors to open and close correctly.

Having had the doors made or purchased (normally made) for the size of opening you have.

You will then fit a door lining (this is the frame the doors will sit on). Be aware the bigger the doors the more stress that will be allpied to the vertical door liner.

Fit each door and ensure free openeing and closing.

Fit the door jams (this is what the door will close against in the frame. Then fit all the door furnitire i.e. handles, glazing, locks.

A door can be replaced with a double door if the wall into which the door fits is thick enough to allow both of the double doors to be hinged. Thus almost all can be replaced by double doors.
