Tear a peice of aluminum foil about three feet long. Fold this in half and use a large book or something heavy to take out the wrinkles. Fold down the corners on the folded side to meet in the middle. Then fold up the open ends. This gives you a base for your hat. Shape this to your head and keep adding more foil till you have your cowboy hat.

Why can biting on aluminium foil be painful?

Biting on aluminum foil is only bad if you have fillings made of amalgum. Because your mouth is wet, biting on the foil will cause an electrolytic reaction and the rsultant electric current causes your nerves to react. It's like putting your tongue across the terminals of a 9v battery. 9v battery on tongue = surprisingly pleasureable. Biting on aluminum foil = OUCH !

How did Rutherford make gold foil so thin?

Gold is a very malleable element. It can be bent and shaped fairly easily (which is why gold is mixed with other elements to make jewelry stronger). Because of this, Rutherford was able to compress a sample of gold until it formed a sheet that was only a few atoms thick.
