I am not sure what brand your garage door opener is, but perhaps you should check with the company that made your particular garage door opener to make sure to get one that will work. If that is not an option for you, I did find that Walmart offers a universal garage door opener remote. One can program the mirror garage door opener on a Hyundai by pushing the home link button first and holding it. It will then flash slowly with a red light on the mirror. One second later, point the garage opener to the mirror and push the open button.
To program the HomeLink garage door opener in a 2008 BMW 650, first ensure that your vehicle is in the "On" or "Run" position. Press and hold the two outer HomeLink buttons until the indicator light begins to flash, then release both buttons. Next, press and hold the HomeLink button you wish to program while simultaneously pressing the garage door opener remote until the HomeLink light changes from a slow blink to a rapid blink. Finally, press the programmed HomeLink button to test the garage door operation.
To program a 2002 Nissan Maxima garage opener: Turn ignition to "ON." Hold the garage remote close to the car’s HomeLink buttons (on visor or mirror).
