I've done a rough calculation based on answers found right here on WikiAnswers to the question "How fast does a cruise ship sail?" That answer was about 40 mph. So, if Hawaii is about 2400 miles away from California it would take them two and a half days at 40 mph. Give or take a few miles or mph. Of course, one has to consider weight of fuel or cargo and Weight of cargo ships vs. cruise ships. I would guesstimate anywhere from 2-4 days at best and worst respectively depending on speed and weight assumptions.
The time it takes to travel 4,000 miles by ship depends on the vessel's speed. For a cargo ship traveling at an average speed of 20 knots (about 23 mph), it would take approximately 8-9 days to cover that distance. However, if the ship is slower, such as a cruise ship at around 15 knots (about 17 mph), it could take around 10-12 days. Weather conditions and port stops could also affect the total travel time.
As much as 170 mph. But on average around 150 mph.
10 knots=11.5 mph, but some ships might have exceeded at 12 knots=13.8 mph.
Depends how fast you drive, how much traffic is on the streets, how you hit the lights, etc. If you average 5 mph . . . 2hours 12minutes If you average 10 mph . . . 1hour 6minutes If you average 15 mph . . . 44 minutes If you average 20 mph . . . 33 minutes If you average 30 mph . . . 22 minutes If you average 60 mph . . . 11 minutes
Cargo ships usually travel an average of 14 to 17 knots (sea miles/ hour). Some are really slow and others are fast. The average speed has been reduced the last few years due to the high fuel cost and due to the use of more expensive (higher quality fuel).
That depends on how fast you travel it. At an average 75 mph, it will take 3 hours. At an average 60 mph, it will take 45 minutes more.
The average mph of a human running is 12mph.
Average speed is 50 mph [(40+60)/2].
A train is traveling at 60 mph. If the rate of speed increases 4 mph each hour, how long will it be before the ship is traveling at a rate of 80 mph?
35 mph would be about average.
About 5 hours at 65 mph average About 5 hours at 55 mph average About 4 hours at 80 mph average
