What would the worth of a 1901 penny be?
How much would an 1897 indain head penny be worth today in 2012
Your coin has been plated. The U.S. never struck a silver cent. At that time it would have been worth about 12 cents, and the Mint wouldn't give away 11 cents on each penny.
It's only a penny spend it.
It is worth a penny.
Someone used a metal punch to alter it. It's damage rather than a Mint error, so your coin unfortunately has no numismatic worth above its face value.
A 1883 Indian Head penny would be worth $3 if worn, $16 if none circulated.
It's worth 2 cents for the copper.
If by a "silver penny" you mean one of the 1943 steel cents, then in mint condition it's worth a dollar or two. If you mean some other date, then it's silver plated and has no collector value. And your 1967 penny has been altered -- no added value.
A Silver Penny struck in 1600 would bear the image of Queen Elizabeth I on the front, with the legend "E D G ROSA SINE SPINA" on the reverse, there would be a shield with lions passent and fleurs de lis with a legend saying which city the coin was struck in.
My guess would be that it was plated with gold (or a gold-colored metal) after minting, and that it is thus worth about a penny.
This would depend on what country the coin is from.
