I would prefer not to buy any rubber bands but to make a rubber motor from strip. It would be possible to knot together a number of small bands but the flight results would probably not be very good. This strip material is generally available from model airplane "cottage industry" type sources and comes in widths from 1/8 to 1/4 inch with a nominal thickness of 1/32 inch and lengths up to 50 feet. It is characterized by extreme elasticity and low energy loss which allows many turns (twists) to be applied without breakage. Typically, a loop of 1/8 inch rubber will satisfactorily fly a model airplane weighing up to one ounce and having a wing span of 16 to 20 inches. Unwound, the loop should be around 1 1/2 times as long as the distance between attachment points with the propeller in place.

How do rubber band powered model airplanes fly in the air?

Rubber band powered model airplanes fly by converting the potential energy stored in the stretched rubber band into kinetic energy, propelling the plane forward. As the rubber band unwinds, it turns a propeller, generating thrust that pushes the airplane through the air. The wings create lift as the plane moves forward, allowing it to stay aloft.

What did Orville and Wilbur Wright invent?

They were the first to produce powered flight that was able to carry a human. They are often credited with the invention of powered flight but this was invented by John Stringfellow of Chard, Somerset, England, who produced a steam powered, heavier-than-air plane (yes - steam powered!) a prototype of which he flew for the public at Crystal Palace, London in 1868. The Wright brothers produced the first plane able to carry a human making their first flight on 17th December 1903, 25 years later than Stringfellow. They were also the first to make the controls for a plane that would make such a flight possible. Their initial flight was shorter than the current wingspan of a Jumbo Jet Boeing 747.

How do you chlorinate rubber?

Rubber can be chlorinated by treating it with chlorine gas or by using chlorine-containing compounds, such as chlorine dioxide or hypochlorite solutions. The chlorination process alters the surface properties of the rubber, making it more resistant to chemicals and heat. Proper safety precautions should be followed when working with chlorine gas to chlorinate rubber.

How is a television powered?

a television is powered by electricity and the electricity comes through cables that plug into a socket. or if you wanted to be adventurous you could try making a hamster run in is wheel and then use that to generate your electriciy. that would be more economical but you would spent more money on feeding you hampster and it would be less reliable

What do you think would happen to rubber if too many cross-links were formed between the molecules?

If too many cross-links are formed between rubber molecules, the material would become extremely rigid and lose its elasticity. This would result in a reduced ability to stretch and deform, making the rubber more brittle and prone to breaking under stress.

How did the Wright Brothers plane change the world?

They were the first pioneers. if they had not tried making the plane air travel would be no where near as where it is today. They inspired the idea and built the first flying aircraft.

Did the wright brothers plane fly?

Yes, the Wright brothers plane did fly. They are credited for the invitation of the airplane. They started by making a glider that would fly which lead to the airplanes we know of today.

What would warming a rubber ball do?

Warming a rubber ball can increase its flexibility and elasticity, making it easier to bounce. However, excessive heat can also cause the rubber to degrade and lose its properties, leading to a decrease in performance and durability. It's important to avoid exposing rubber balls to extreme temperatures to maintain their quality.
