"to make do with" is to accept something which is satisfactory when there is no other option. it might not be quite what you wanted, though.

e.g. there is no plain flour left, so we'll have to make do with self raising flour.

or

there is no tea left so we'll have to make do with coffee

I hope this has helped... i'm not sure whether it makes much sense though...
