WE HAVE ALWAYS USED IT AS A DECORATIVE PIECE IN THE HOUSE. AND IT HAS NEVER HAD A FIRE IN IT. i ALSO HAVE HE CAST CLOTHING IRONS OF THREE SIZES WHICH WULD BE HEATED BY SETTING ON TOP OF THE STOVE IF AND WE NEVER LIT A FIRE IN IT.
