they flew at Kitty Hawk because there were constant winds coming off of the Atlantic, soft landing grounds, and it was also fairly desserted. This dessertedness was needed because if the paparazzi was there to record a failure (if that was the case) then they would be ruined even if they succeeded later on because the media would, as always, exaggerate. They needed a fair chance under no pressure and for the opportunity to fix mistakes. Not to mention the danger if onlookers were present during a malfunction, they wouldn't want that accident on the shoulders. hope this helped! i got this info in an article on my ACT test a couple weeks ago so it should be valid info! :)
They first flew their glider in Kitty Hawk which is in North Carolina.
The Wright brothers first airplane was a glider, -wind powered.
Wilbur Wright
around 1899 They flew their first glider in October 1900.
In 1900, the Wright brothers built the first glider. Most of their tests of the glider did not contain a pilot in the first year, and they continued to develop it for several years.
the wright brother invented the glider in the 1890s it was a successful one similar to a airplane but without the engine
Wright brothers
Kitty Hawk But it was not a glider. It was a powered aircraft.
1909
The Wright Brothers.
The Wright brothers first flew their 1900 glider at Kitty Hawk.
The Wright brothers used a launching rail system and a simple wooden dolly to get their glider off the ground. They would run along the rail system attached to the glider to build up enough speed for takeoff, while the dolly helped stabilize and guide the glider during the initial phase of the flight.
