Where do you get the lumber from on my sims kingdom?

You can't make it.

After you talk to Torajiro about that, talk to Dr. F. By then, he'll have made a machine that was supposed to spit out ice cream, but instead spits out lumber and steel. Dr. F will give that to you, then you go and give it to Torajiro, and they will explain to you the rest.

You can get Lumber by chopping trees with your axe, I'm not entirely sure how you get Steel form either mining in the wall or using the metal detector and digging.
