The appearance of motion created by displaying a series of still images in sequence is known as "persistence of vision." This phenomenon occurs when the brain retains an image for a fraction of a second after it has disappeared, allowing successive images to blend together and create the illusion of continuous motion. This technique is fundamental in animation and film, where rapid frame transitions trick the viewer's perception into seeing fluid movement.
