The engine uses three quarts of oil, and the Primary/Transmission uses one quart of Sport-Trans.
harley has their own suggested fluid. however many of us use the same oil in the engine, the tranny and the primary. 20/50
In as much as Harley has discontinued Sport Trans Fluid and it's now an obsolete part number I think the only HD product out there is Formula+ for your use.
It depends on the model.
Harley Sport-Trans Fluid if you can find it. I use it in mine religiously. Works great!
The primary oil does three things. Lube the clutch. Lube the primary chain . And cool the stator. If Harley thought Dextron would do this, they would have recommended the use of it. Keep your Harley a Harley.
No, there is no 1994 Harley-Davidson Shovelhead model. The Shovelhead engine was produced from 1966 until 1984, after which Harley introduced the Evolution engine. By 1994, Harley had transitioned to the Evolution engine, which was used in various models during that time.
I use Harley Davidson 20w50 in my 2003 883 and in my 2005 wide glide. Bel Ray also makes good oil for v twins, alot of my freinds use it. Also, you will need one quart of Sport-Trans for the primary/transmission oil.
A type of primary oil that can b used for a Harley Fat Boy is Lucus Primary specific oil & Lucus 85/140. This can be purchased at auto repair shops.
The fluids I E oil is filled in the oil bag, DO NOT OVER FILL. The primary is filled by removal of the derby cover (the large cover on the side of the primary) and is filled only to the lowest point of the opening. I suggest finding out what fluid was used in the primary, I suggest using type F ATF trans fluid.
yes ford type F works fine and is cheap
sport lube 1 quart
