Naw man. The threads are reverse threaded. It will loosen when under load. That and most trimmer heads are made for counterclockwise rotation. You have an issue along do. The simple cure (most don't realize) if you hold the trimmer left handed on your left side of your body, right hand on throttle and left controlling the trimmer, Most pro level trimmers are made this way and it's a small learning curve to hold it left BUT it actually is the right way though it doesn't feel natural at first. Trust me.. ;)

poulan is an ok machine. it's a step above the weedeater brand but not to the quality of Stihl or Husqvarna
You will need a reverse rotation cam and lifters, reverse rotation front a rear main seals, reverse rotation distributor, and a reverse rotation starter.
You can get different cutting heads, blades, straps/harnesses, depending on what youre looking for.
Your local hardware store should be able to tell you how particularly if they sell the same machine
Unfortunately, like a few Stihl products, there is more than one. The current product is 27.2cc and is based on the 4140 engine. The previous one was approximately 32cc and made by someone else.
