I believe 1200 with carb. If so, look on the right side, ( foot brake side ), right where the throttle cable meets the carb. you will see a small screw there, just turn either way and follow your tach. Normal rpm for the 1200 is 900 + - 100. I run mine around 1000 to 1050. Just a really great machine. Need more info, send to message board. Good luck
If you look on the foot brake side, just where the cable meets the carb, there is a screw a little further in, that will adjust the idle. Use a long screw driver.

To adjust the idle on a Yamaha 1200 XL Waverunner, locate the idle adjustment screw, typically found on the throttle body or near the carburetors. Start the engine and allow it to reach operating temperature. Then, use a screwdriver to turn the idle adjustment screw clockwise to increase the idle speed or counterclockwise to decrease it, ensuring it idles smoothly at the recommended RPM specified in the owner's manual. Always make small adjustments and test the idle after each change.
