It's automatic. "Tensioner" is more like a positive stop for the chain runner, a one way ticket compensating for wear so non-adjustable, it's a roller clutch similar to a pre-engaged starter motor drive or free wheel pinion. If worried that it might be too tight, rotate engine to timing mark, remove cam cover & remove tensioner locking pin; making sure back run of chain is tight by pre-loading crank but not rotating, turn tensioner shaft clockwise, (it will not turn anti clockwise), until you can re-insert the pin. Job done but re-assemble with new gasket or thoroughly clean original gasket & mating faces & use a smear of sealing compound to all faces.
