Run the engine for a minute or two to get it warmed up. Stand the bike upright. On the left side of the bike, almost behind the lower frame you will find the drain bolt. It is a 17mm bolt. You will need a box wrench for this. Most other wrenches are too big. Loosen the drain bolt and drain the oil completely. Once the oil has been drained remove the filter coverings and filter. These are located on the right side of the bike. Large, chrome, two-part casing under the engine. Front piece is a circle with three hex bolts in it. The bolts are either 5mm or 4mm. Under that you'll find more bolts. Take them all out and you'll find the oil filter underneath. Throw away the old filter and install the new one. Once this is done, replace the drain bolt to the oil pan and add about 2.75 pints of regular, non-synthetic 40 weight oil. I use Yamalube 10w40.
