To check a coil you just need to take out your spark plug but leave it plugged into the coil and ground the spark plug while trying to turn it over. If it is a good strong spark than your coil is fine. If it doesn't spark than unplug the wire going to it and try it again if it doesn't spark than it is a good chance your coil is bad. if it does spark than it is a wire problem. Also make sure that your spark plug is gaped correctly, usually at about 0.030.
To test a lawn mower coil, you can use a multimeter to check the resistance between the coil's terminals. If the resistance falls within the manufacturer's specified range, the coil is likely functioning properly.
To troubleshoot a faulty lawn mower ignition coil, first check for loose or damaged connections. Next, test the coil with a multimeter to see if it is producing the correct amount of electrical resistance. If the coil is not functioning properly, it may need to be replaced.
Lt133 lawn tractor will not fire is coil bad

check with meter to see resistance value (ohms)should read 3.4
On most lawn mowers the coil and the fly wheel are located under the recoil housing or engine shroud.
what are you trying to measure and with what type of meter? generally we check the module with a spark tester. if there is no spark with the spark tester we check the kill wires and any safety switches that may cause a no spark issue and if all that still shows no spark then we replace the module.

Symptoms of a bad ignition coil on a lawn mower include difficulty starting the engine, engine misfiring or stalling, and poor performance or loss of power while mowing.

You could check with the Old Lawn Mower Club
does it have spark to the plug if not the part you might check would be the coil or the electronic start module probably the latter if it is a newer mower or of ots older then the coil magneto usually dont go bad could be a bad gap between the coil and the magneto if its an older mower could be a bad set of points if its an older mower point gap could be bad spark plug could be bad as I don't know exactly what the lawn mower is doing hard to tell what is wrong
