how do you check oil on Yamaha v star classic 1100
Approx. 4 1/2 quarts. by the book. 4.5 liters 1.19 gal
The 1996 Yamaha 1100 has a low oil warning light, in the instrument panel. The motor oil dipstick has a low oil mark.
what is the proper amount of oil for a 1100v-star
I have a 2005 Yamaha 1100 Vstar Custom and realized the problem with oil changes also. Look at the right side of the engine case, where the side plate with "YAMAHA" is. That ain't the oil filter cover. The oil filter cover is the larger plate that that one is attached to. Essentially, for an oil filter change, you have to remove the front cylinder exhaust pipe (or pipes if you have the factory installed) and possibly (depending on your talents and determination) the right foot peg bracket as well. (If you have floorboards, it will only have to be loosened up to provide clearance.) You may have to unfasten the brake reservoir and let it hang. There is an oil filter relocation kit available, at least one that I know of, so you might want to search the web for that.
The proper oil level in a 2002 Yamaha s-star 1100 classic would be the level where on the stick it meets the right mark so that you dont under or over fill the tank.
Yes, you should be able to see oil in the fill hole of a V-Star 1100, as it indicates that the oil level is sufficient. However, the oil should not be overflowing, as this could indicate overfilling. It's important to regularly check the oil level and ensure it is within the recommended range to maintain optimal engine performance. Always consult the owner's manual for specific guidelines regarding oil maintenance.
