IN 1973 THE BIKE IN QUESTION WAS A 2-STROKE,AN WAS CALLED A DT250 ENDURO . THE BIKE YOU ARE TALKING OF WAS BUILT FROM 1980 THREW 1983 AN IS A 4-STROKE. IN 73 YAMAHA MADE NO 4-STROKE ENDURO BIKES.
I don't think you can derestrict it because its 4 stroke the only way to really get it any faster is to get a 182 kit for it but then your sacrificing reliability there hope this helps :)

all i done to mine was take the ring out of the variator which the peugeot dealer done for a score + VAT (bargain)had 46 mph downhill with wind and does 40+ no worrys on flat road
There are two drain plugs on the RT3's Both are on the bottom of the crank case. There is one on the generator side and one on the clutch side.
Yamaha YZ 450 F for Track or WR 450 F for Enduro. I am of similar size and I have the mass to throw the bike around quite easily.
