simply remove the bolts that hold the blades to the mower.check and make a note of the blades positions/there's an 'up' and 'down'-[ 'down' faces the lawn] put something,-ratchet handle, 2x4- to keep the blade[s[ from turning and remove the retaining bolt[s]replace the new blade[s] facing the proper direction-if in doubt, ask a dealer-they may laugh, but it's importent. hope this helps. It would help more if I knew which direction the bolts turn, reverse or normal on a twin blade 38" deck?
I believe the size head for the bolt is a 5/8 socket, you will probably need a cheater bar for leverage to help get the bolt loose from the blade spindle. Or a hammer to tap the handle of socket. Make sure you lube the spindles when putting things back together. The lube points are on top of deck around the 3 spindles on most decks !
Remove the deck from the tractor, then remove both blades. They can be sharpened using a grinder. If you don't have a grinder, then there are shops out there that can sharpen them for you (try asking at a shop that sharpens chainsaw chains).
the treads are stander so it will left for lossen and right for tighten
what size nut is on the blades on a john deere z225 42 in mower
To remove a 60-inch mower deck from a John Deere 420, start by parking the tractor on a level surface and engaging the parking brake. Disconnect the mower deck's lift linkages and any drive belts, then remove the pins or bolts securing the deck to the tractor. Finally, lower the deck to the ground and carefully slide it out from under the tractor. Always refer to the owner’s manual for specific instructions and safety precautions.
i had high lift blades on my mower & it would overheat. i put regular blades on it & problem went away. could be your problem
Do you seriously not have a few to try?!?
Turn your blades off.
