To set the timing on a Suzuki LTR 450, first, remove the spark plug for easier access. Then, align the timing marks on the camshaft and crankshaft by rotating the engine clockwise until the marks are aligned at TDC (top dead center) for the compression stroke. Ensure the camshaft is positioned correctly in accordance with the timing chain or belt, and then reassemble everything, checking that all components are secure. Always consult the owner's manual for specific details and torque specifications.
You can set the camshaft timing, on your Suzuki 450, by manually turning the engine to the number one spot. Adjust the camshaft valves with the adjustment screw.
You don't. The timing is adjusted thru the ECM.
I have a 1998 Suzuki Sidekick JX 4X4 4 Doors, How do I set the timing? Please show me the steps thank you.
To set the timing on a 1992 Suzuki Samurai 1.3 L EFI engine, first ensure the engine is at top dead center (TDC) on the compression stroke for cylinder one. Then, locate the timing mark on the crankshaft pulley and align it with the timing pointer on the engine block. Use a timing light to check the ignition timing; if it's out of spec, adjust it by loosening the distributor clamp and rotating the distributor until the timing is correct. Finally, tighten the distributor clamp and recheck the timing to ensure it remains accurate.
The distributor is set to 0 degrees with a scan tool. You cannot do this with a timing light.
There should timing marks, or you can consult a repair manual (very cheap.)
Hey Ron==The timing is controled buy the ecm and is nonadjustable. Good luck Joe
timig chain marks
To set valve timing on a 1981 Suzuki GS450 motorcycle, first ensure the engine is at top dead center (TDC) on the compression stroke for the first cylinder. Remove the valve covers and check the alignment of the timing marks on the camshaft and the crankshaft. Adjust the camshaft position as necessary by loosening the camshaft sprocket bolts, then rotate the camshaft to align the marks before tightening the bolts securely. Finally, check the valve clearances and adjust them as needed for proper operation.
With the timing set at 10 degrees BTDC it is 800 RPM.
Initially @ 6 +- 2 dgrees btdc at 600rpm with vac line to distributor disconnected and plugged. BigBronco351
