To set the timing on a Yamaha G2 golf cart, first ensure the engine is off and cool. Remove the timing inspection plug and use a timing light to check the timing mark on the flywheel against the mark on the engine case. Adjust the timing by loosening the ignition coil mounting screws and rotating the coil until the desired timing is achieved. Finally, tighten the screws and recheck the timing to ensure it is correctly set.
timing is fixed; controlled and monitored by the igniter unit and cannot be adjusted.
To set the timing on a Yamaha TY 175, start by removing the ignition cover to access the flywheel. Use a dial gauge to find the top dead center (TDC) of the piston, then align the timing marks on the flywheel with the mark on the engine case. Adjust the ignition timing by loosening the stator plate screws and rotating it until the timing light indicates the desired advance. Finally, tighten the screws and recheck the timing to ensure it is correctly set.
To set the timing on a 1997 Yamaha Kodiak 400 ATV, first, ensure the engine is at top dead center (TDC) on the compression stroke. Remove the timing inspection cover and align the timing mark on the flywheel with the index mark on the engine case. If necessary, adjust the ignition timing by loosening the ignition coil or pickup coil and rotating it until the timing marks align properly. Finally, recheck the timing and secure all components before reassembling.
