How do you shift gears on a 2005 Yamaha yzf r6?

Pull in the clutch, Starting in neutral first gear will be a firm push down on the shift lever. Slowly let the clutch out while at the same time roll on some throttle. Once you get going, you'll need second gear. Second is a bit tricky... You pull the clutch back in and using your toe pull up firmly. Second is "long" on Yamahas. If you don't do it firmly enough you may find yourself back in neutral. You have two ways to check if you couldn't tell by the feel if you are back in nuetral. The neutral "indicator" light will glow green by the rest of your gauges. This is otherwise known as a "dummy" light.... The other way to tell is to let the clutch back out... If you find yourself still slowing down when you are trying to go fast but the throttle just seems to make a lot of noise, you are probably in nutral still. Squeeze the clutch lever back in and give that shift lever a firm yank skyward with your toe, let the clutch out and you should be good from here on out.
