What I did was... First place something over the spots so you don't scratch the paint on the fairing. Then take the batwing front fairing off: remove the 3 screws for the windshield, then the 4 torx screws, 2 on each side, of the inner fairing; one being up in the handlebar/grip area and the other at the bottom of the fairing by the top of the fork, unplug the headlamp and slide the shell off. Sometimes the windshield stays in place, especially if you a short deflector, but you may want to take this off too to avoid damaging it. Then remove the radio (unplug everything from the back of the radio, then there are 4 thumb/torx screws on the sides of the radio holding this to the bracket frame...they can be fun to remove and install). Once the radio is out you should see 2 of the 4 hex screws where the bracket is holding the bars to the fork (to get to the other 2 I would think you'd have to take off the inner fairing). I only tightened the 2 visible ones enough to keep the bar in place. I really didn't feel like taking the inner fairing off so I got these tight enough (using a hex head socket and a socket wrench). Be careful if you're trying to lower the bar towards the gas tank. If you go too low the fork lock won't work and yo risk hitting the tank with the controls and/or wiring and cabling . Then you go in the reverse order to put it all back together.
