The crank case holds 3 quarts. If synthetic is in bike now you have to put synthetic back. Replacing synthetic with conventional oil does something to the gaskets and seals and causes leaks. You can use a top name brand 20-50 from parts house or Wal-Mart such as Mobil1 for about half the cost of HD or Amsoil.
You should be able to get filter from other source than dealer too.
